Brazilian band CSS are making a bold bid for favourite foreign band of 2007 with Let’s Make Love And Listen To Death From Above leading their attempt…
CSS – Let’s Make Love And Listen To Death From Above
Some people, you get the feeling, were born to be lead singers. And the unusually named Lovefoxx, of CSS, is one such person. Having left the audience stunned after a rousing performance on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, CSS look like they may have provided the unforgettable mid-afternoon performance at this year’s Glastonbury; the one that people talk about for years, the one where people boast about seeing it, like Oasis at 1994 (I WAS THERE!)Their biggest crowd-pleaser is Let’s Make Love And Listen To Death From Above. Everything about the song is great. The fact that it sounds like The Gossip’s Standing In The Way Of Control, if that song were about cult indie bands, instead of George Bush. The fact that it name-checks an impossibly cool American band. And especially the fact that it is sung by a very sexy woman who seems to wear nothing but strange, glittery clothes, including leotards.
Everything about CSS’ performance of Let’s Make Love.. at Glastonbury suggests that the band should be able to build on it and come back next year in a much higher slot. It should also help them sell some records – the band have a very good reputation on the live circuit, but have hardly set the charts alight. With Lovefoxx, this Glastonbury appearance and the awesome Let’s Make Love And Listen To Death From Above, that seems sure to change.
