Kind Of Bloop – 8-Bit Miles Davis Tribue

A very quick post, like the last one was meant to be.

Via Tom Critchlow I found Kind of Bloop: it’s a project where musicians who make music with Nintendos and similar equipment have recorded a track by track tribute to Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue.

I only wrote about Kind of Blue’s opening track, So What, the other day. And now I get to write about a cover of So What which sounds like the soundtrack to Manic Miner 2: The Jazz Years. And as if that wasn’t cool enough, it seems like the album was made with a bit of crowdsourced funding courtesy of Kickstarter, a site run by the guy who came up with the idea for the album.

He managed to hit his funding target in just a couple of hours but luckily will be opening the album up so that those who weren’t lucky enough to be able to fund it can buy a copy from August 20th. I don’t know about you but I’ll be there with (electronic) bells on.
